This Higher Diploma is designed to provide a more in depth understanding and application of business management to equip learners who are keen to take up employment in the business sector. Those who are keen to further their education can progress on to gain entry and acceptance into Year 3 of a bachelor’s degree in business management or marketing, entrepreneurship, or international business.
On completion, students have the following options:
- University of Gloucestershire on-campus top-up to Level 6 BA (Hons) Business and Strategy
- Direct entry into the Bachelor en Administration des Affaires BA (Hons) in Business Administration)—Dual Awards from IBES and UCAM
Overall Programme Outcomes
On completion of this programme, learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate an in depth understanding of management theories, current issues of management, the development of conceptual frameworks to guide their application within organizations operating in an increasingly global and competitive environment.
- Demonstrate and apply critical skills enabling the investigation and evaluation of valid and relevant management issues and practices.
- Demonstrate command of a range of competencies relevant to cross-border management, including inter-cultural awareness and understanding.
- Demonstrate a coherent body of knowledge on economic, ethical, environmental, legal, political, sociological and technological factors together with their effects at local, national and international levels upon the strategy, behaviour and management of organisations.

Assessments are based wholly on course work and assignments submitted by learners
Entry Requirement
- Applicants should normally be at least 16 years old and must have a Level 4 (RQF) diploma or equivalent.
Programme Structure
The Level 5 Higher Diploma in Business Administration accrues 120 credits over 6 Modules. Each Module carries 20 credits and are in:
- Module 1 – Entrepreneurship and Business Venturing
- Module 2 – Digital Marketing Fundamentals
- Module 3 – Operations and Project Management
- Module 4 – International Business and Cross-Cultural Management
- Module 5 – Business Analytics and Decision Making
- Module 6 – Marketing and Consumer Behaviour
Mode of Delivery
Blended Learning mode – Each taught Module should have a total of 8 hours of face-to-face lectures and supported by self-study using the Online Learning Resources and online interactions with the Module Leader.
Fully Online mode – Each taught Module should have a total of 8 hours of asynchronous classes, tutorials and interaction with the Module Leader. This will be supported by self-study using Online Learning Resources. Pre-recorded video lectures for each module will be provided.
Duration
Full Programme
Students have the option to complete the programme either within 6 months or 12 months. The maximum duration for the full programme is 12 months. The Board of Examiners have the right to terminate any student who does not successfully complete all the requirements of the programme within 12 months for the full Higher Diploma programme, taken from the date of commencement of the programme unless the Board of Examiners had granted prior extensions.
Top-Up
Students have the option to complete the top-up programme either within 2 months or 4 months. The maximum duration for the top-up programme is 4 months. The top-up programme refers to students who are exempted from 4 taught modules and are only undertaking 2 modules. The Board of Examiners have the right to terminate any student who does not successfully complete all the requirements of the programme within 4 months from the commencement.
