Higher Diploma in Business Administration and BABA top-up with IBES

The programme is designed for individuals who see themselves as future business professionals in any industry (private / public / voluntary). The programme provides various opportunities to develop knowledge and expertise required to be a successful manager in the industry. This course would suit individuals who are interested in developing business knowledge, management skills and managing in an ever-increasing international world.

A key feature of the programme is to blend both academic study and skills development in order to enhance the employability of our graduates. In order to enable students to develop broad knowledge in the desired area, we offer a course with an emphasis on applying the knowledge developed in real life situations and with real organisations. The course also aims to develop an individual’s entrepreneurial capabilities and offers opportunities for students to develop and launch business ideas, as well as providing flexible opportunities for undertaking work experience.

On completion of the programme, students will be able to progress to a range of opportunities and careers.

Overall Programme Outcomes

The main educational aims of the programme are to:

  • Provide all students with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the core functions of business and management
  • Critically evaluate and plan for a range of contemporary business and management scenarios
  • Develop the intellectual skills necessary to contribute to effective business practice and problem solving
  • Prepare students for graduate employment, research, further study and lifelong learning by developing their intellectual, practical and key (transferable) skills
  • Enhance the employability of graduates through the blend of academic study and skills development. The course aims to develop enterprise and entrepreneurial skills and offers students’ opportunities to link their studies with work experience and internships

Programme Structure

The top-up BA (Hons) Business Management accrues to 120 Credits and has 4 modules as follows:

  • Leading and Managing Change

SELF INSTRUCTIONAL LEARNING MATERIAL FACE TO FACE TUTORIALS ONLINE DISCUSSIONS
Students are given a complete set of learning materials to facilitate independent study which can be downloaded from the designated Learning Portal Face-to-Face classes conducted at a learning centre at 18 hrs per module Learners are encouraged to participate in online discussions with other learners and their tutors for at least 18 hours per module

Face to face Taught Mode

FACE TO FACE TAUGHT MODE ONLINE DISCUSSIONS
Face-to-Face lasses conducted with not less than 18 hours of classes per module at a learning centre Learners are encouraged to participate in online discussions with other learners and their tutors for at least 18 hours per module

Fully Online Mode

NOTIONAL HOURS

Notional hours are defined in terms of the amount of time it should take a learner to achieve the learning outcomes.  Each credit requires on average 10 notional hours of a learner’s time.

Guide to Learning Hours / Student Learning Time

The Level 5 Higher Diploma accrues 120 credits spread over 8 modules or 1,200 notional hours in total.  It should take no more than 9 months to complete.

The top-up BA (Hons) accrues 120 credits spread over 4 modules or 1,200 notional hours in total. It should therefore take 12 months to complete.

The programme can therefore take just over 1½ years to complete.
