The Higher Diploma in Business Administration with General Studies (ADP) provides an in‑depth understanding and application of business administration. It prepares learners for employment in the business sector and for further education through progression pathways to Westcliff University (USA) and Lincoln University (USA).

⚖️ Note on credits: 10 UK credits = 3 US credits = 5 ECTS. Lincoln University accepts up to 90 transfer units towards their bachelor’s degree. The programme structure follows a semester-based plan with three units per term (3 calendar months each).

📝 Assessment Strategy

Each unit is assessed through a combination of written coursework and/or multiple-choice questions (MCQs). All assignments follow the Harvard referencing system and are designed to test knowledge, analysis, planning, and report writing.

📊 Grading scale (per unit)

📌 Resit policy: Up to two resits allowed per unit; resits must be completed within 2 months after results release. Late submission without approved deferment may result in capped mark (max pass 50%) or zero mark after 7 days.

🚪 Entry Requirements

Applicants should be at least 16 years old. No prior business knowledge is required, but evidence of ability to succeed must be demonstrated.

  • High school completion (or equivalent) with minimum CGPR 2.0.
  • UK: Level 2 (QCF) Diploma or 5 GCSEs at grade C/4+.
  • China: Senior Secondary Graduation Diploma with Huikao average ≥70% (B).
  • Hong Kong: HKDSE 2-2-2 or 48 UCAS points.
  • Malaysia: 5 SPM credits (C) or 2 STPM Principal Pass (C).
  • Other countries: recognised high school credential with comparable standing.
🇬🇧 English language proficiency

  • O-Level English / SPM English credit / recognised English competency.

🔄 Advanced Standing & Credit Transfer (APL)

The programme recognises prior certificated or experiential learning through the Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process. Requests are evaluated on an individual basis by an appointed panel. For regular cohort admissions with advanced standing, an Academic Progression Agreement must be established.

📎 Students may apply for exemptions from certain units based on prior learning at the beginning of the programme or at a later stage. All APL decisions are made following academic judgement.

💻 Mode of Delivery

🏫 Mode A: Blended Learning
  • 8 hours face‑to‑face lectures per unit.
  • Self‑study via online learning portal + interaction with Unit Leader.

  • 8 hours of asynchronous classes, tutorials, and pre‑recorded video lectures.
  • Online discussions and self‑directed resources.

Students complete an online induction workshop (non‑assessed) covering e‑learning skills, academic regulations, and library access. Each semester students take three units delivered over three calendar months.

  • Minimum pass mark: 50% for each unit; compensation may be granted for marginal fail (unit mark ≥45% and component ≥40%) – typically one compensated pass.
  • Resit limits: max two resits per unit, otherwise withdrawal from programme.
  • Extension requests: must be submitted at least 10 days before deadline; one‑week extension max.
  • Plagiarism: strict penalties, including failure and possible withdrawal.
  • Appeals: no right of appeal against academic judgement or grading decisions by examination board.
  • Maximum completion timeframe: Westcliff pathway 36 months; Lincoln pathway 40 months (including resits/deferments).
